What is radiation oncology?

Radiation oncology is the treatment of cancer with the help of radiation therapy. Radiation treatment uses powerful dosages of radiation to target cancer blocks to stop them or reduce their growth.

ROMP works closely with doctors, nurses, therapists, and engineers to ensure safe radiation therapy. A radiation oncologist will promote a radiation treatment, a radiation therapist will plan it, and a radiation physicist in a radiation oncologist will determine the safety of the equipment to be used for treatment so that the dose can be administered correctly. 

Medical physicists can also provide specific advice to radiation therapists and radiation therapists about how best to use medical radiation. They also work with IT and engineers on radiation therapy equipment and related computer systems.
