About Us
Polyphonic HMI has developed a system of music analysis and is currently utilizing it in two key areas: individual music recommendation; and as a tool for the music industry.( Including labels, producers and Radio Stations ).
Music Label Services
Polyphonic's Hit Song Science (HSS) analyzes the underlying mathematical patterns in unreleased music and compares them to the patterns in recent hit songs. The new technology can isolate individual patterns in key aspects of the music that humans detect and that help determine whether or not they like a given song. For example, the dictionary describes melody as a series of notes strung together in a meaningful pattern. But determining what is "meaningful" is a very human and very subjective experience. This technology is able to detect what those melody patterns are as well as decipher patterns in other aspects of the music such as beat, harmony, pitch, octave, fullness of sound, brilliance and chord progression. HSS is also helping labels ensure that their albums are cohesive, coherent and that the album tracks are appealing to those who buy the album for the hit song and to those who would likely be inclined to download only the single form a digital retailer.

Radio Stations
Consumers complain that all the music on radio sounds the same. HSS is able to detect music that is not necessarily formulaic but that will still have a mass appeal. HSS did this in the case of Norah Jones before anyone knew who she was, or who we were for that matter. Polyphonic is currently working with radio stations in Europe to determine how more-diverse and eclectic play lists can be created that will attract disenfranchised listeners back to the dial without losing current listeners.
Services for Producers
When used as a production tool, HSS - Studio helps producers and artists ensure that the songs that will be considered for single release indeed have optimal mathematical patterns. Despite first impressions, HSS -Studio completely preserves and respects creativity and artistic integrity. To date about a dozen songs have been recorded using technology by various producers and those released have been among the top 10 in their corresponding music charts.
Artists
The discount bins are a graveyard for artists whose singles never made it. If their labels had used HSS to release different songs as singles, changed the release order by being able to see the market trends revealed by HSS, or had they been able to use HSS during the production those artists might still be enjoying careers in music. Had HSS existed in 1966 and had Decca used it to evaluate a certain demo that arrived they may not have turn down the Beatles, whose music sounded very risky for the times. How many artists get passed over today because fears that their music will not have market appeal?
Retail Music Recommendation
The Human Music Interface (HMI) is the most powerful and compelling music recommendation tool in existence. HMI has analyzed the mathematical patterns in millions of songs and we continue to update our database with the new releases each week. Shoppers can discover new music just by entering the name of a favourite song. HMI recommendation software can run online for digital retailers as well as interface with almost all known hardware systems for physical music stores, giving a sales lift on a per store basis by up to 30%. The HMI helps retailers sell mor music both in-store and online. With CRM systems, retailers can also achieve soft-dollar benefits increased customer loyalty, better customer service through personalization and a device through which to collect valuable marketing information.
Consumers
By providing the services described above to the industry Polyphonic HMI is helping radio stations create more eclectic yet universally appealing play lists so that all of the music played doesn't sound the same. We are also helping labels, producers and artists create album tracks that are more representative of the hit singles so cosumers don't feel they bought a whole album and only enjoy two songs or feel inclined to only buy the singles. Our music recommendation platform for retailers helps consumers cut through the clutter, find new music, be exposed to new genres they bought they'd never like (but will ) and helps them buy the perfect gift for friends just by knowing one of their favourite songs.

Polyphonic HMI is committed to improving the business results of our customers by helping them deliver better services and products to their customers
